The statue is 30 m high and stands on an 8-meter plinth, looking from the top of the 740-meter granite Corcovado mountain.

The statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro is the highest monument of Christ in the world, its total height is 38 meters (of which the statue itself has 30 meters). The Statue of Christ of the Pacific in Lima (Peru), 37 meters tall (22 meters tall, has a statue), followed by Christ the King in Świebodzin (Poland), its total height is 36 meters (33 meters) has the same figure).

3.5 meter head weighs over 35 tons, each hand weighs 9 tons, and the distance from the end of one hand to the other is 28 m. The whole monument weighs approximately 1145 tons.

The arms of the statues standing on top of the Corcovado are broadly spread in a gesture that embraces the bustling city of Rio de Janeiro. The statue was intended to express both divine compassion and some pride in the achievements of the independent Brazil.

This work of art was designed by a French sculptor of Polish descent Paweł Landowski, who began to model his head and hands, the rest was entrusted to engineers and architects.

The statue was built in Paris, after which it was put in place.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Brazil's independence, a competition for the national monument project was announced, Da Silva won the project, whose statue of Christ expressed compassion and a feeling of accomplishment.
