Built in 1892 at a cost of $79,000. It stands at 112.5 feet tall and 36.5 feet in diameter. The original water tank held 133,000 gallons of water. The tower also housed the village's offices, police department, jail, and police magistrate court until 1968. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

In 1991, lightning struck the tower and a fire broke out. The repair and restoration of the tower lasted two years. Today, the tower houses the Western Springs Historical Society and a Children's Museum.
