A shot tower was a tower designed for the production of shot balls by freefall of molten lead, which was then caught in a water basin. This method is not used anymore and there are not many shot towers left.
Pispala shot tower was built in 1908 by Oy Hjorth Ab and it is 55 metres high, It was in use until 1972. It's the only surviving shot tower in Finland.
