The largest arched bridge in the world will be built in Dubai
In Dubai, the largest arched bridge in the world designed by the New York-based FXFOWLE will be built. The main span will be 205 meters high and 667 meters long. In both directions, the bridge will have 6 lanes, and an additional 2 lanes for the metro, it will allow 20,000 vehicles to pass through and 23,000 passengers per metro within one hour.
As one of the designers said, the shape of the bridge will be integrated with the natural environment, it will refer, among others, to to the desert dunes, the shape determined during the lunar cycle and to the appearance of the future opera in Dubai.
Construction of the bridge will probably be the most expensive construction in this category. The object is to be put into operation at the end of 2012.
