Construction of the new highest tower in the world begins

On Monday in Dubai the construction of "The Tower", the new highest tower in the world, began.

The cornerstone for the building officially named "The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbor" was laid by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates.

In Dubai, the tallest skyscraper is already located - Burj Khalifa measuring 829.8 meters.

The investor does not want to reveal the final height that his construction will reach, rumors say it can be 928 meters, more than 100 meters more than Burj Khalifa.

The current record holder bearing the title of the "highest tower of the world" is the Tokyo Tower Skytree measuring 634 meters, which, in addition to the broadcasting station, also has a restaurant and an observation deck. The Guinness Book of Records defines towers as structures in which less than 50% of the total height has utility floors.

The building designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava will be implemented in cooperation with Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding.

The tower located just 10 minutes from the airport will have an observation deck with a 360-degree panoramic view of the coastal city.

According to the investor, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, construction will be completed in 2020.

The cost of construction is also unknown, but it is said that it will amount to about one billion dollars.
