A single 1/4 mile long toboggan slide was built at the Pokagon State Park in 1935. A 20 feet tall tower was added to the beginning of the run in 1938, and a second chute was added in 1940. A refrigeration system was added in 1971.
The original tower deteriorated over time and was replaced by the current 30 feet tall tower in 1974. The run was closed from 1984-86 as the chutes were rebuilt.
The total vertical drop is about 90 feet with speeds typically about 35-40 mph. The chutes attract about 90,000 riders each year.
This is hard to see through the trees in the current map views, but a few historical Google Earth views provide a clearer view of the chutes.
