Irwin Boyle Laughlin was an American diplomat who served as both Minister to Greece from 1924 to 1926 and Ambassador to Spain from 1929 to 1933.

He built this home, next door to his good friend Henry White, in 1923. In 1960, he formed Meridian International Center, a non-profit organization, after which the home served as it's headquarters.

The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973
