The National Museum in Szczecin was chosen the best building in the world

The Museum of the Dialogue Center Breakthrough in Szczecin by Robert Konieczny and his studio KWK Promes was awarded the World Building of the Year award, which was awarded by the jury at the World Architecture Festival 2016 in Berlin.

Initially, Konieczny's project became a laureate in the category of the Best Cultural Object in the world, and only later it turned out that he also received the Grand Prix of the festival defeating the remaining 374 competitors from around the world, including 9 from Poland.

According to the jurors, the project combining three stories, that before World War II, the history of war damage and post-war development, enriches the city and life in this city. According to them, this project refers to the past in an optimistic, poetic and imaginative way.

The museum has a hybrid form - it combines a city square and a quarter of buildings with an underground structure.

The structure of the building was built based only on precast concrete, and its sunk form ensures that it does not obscure the view of neighboring buildings, including on the building of the Szczecin Philharmonic.

The World Building of the Year 2016 prize is one of the most important awards in the world of architecture and is awarded annually since 2008.
