Fire detection equipment

Special devices to detect a fire in its early phase are a necessity in public buildings. Often, they are also installed in private apartments, where they significantly increase the safety of household members. What products of this type can be used?

Alarm devices in case of fire hazard can be divided into carbon monoxide detectors, gas detectors, and fire detectors - smoke and temperature. Mounting each of them allows for faster detection of danger, which often prevents dangerous fires. That is why they are installed in public buildings as an important element of fire protection. They can also be decided by people who care about their family

Carbon and gas detectors
Their task is to control the presence of gas in the air and activate the alarm when its concentration reaches the lower limit of explosion. This device should be installed in kitchens and bathrooms, in which there are gas heating stoves or gas stoves, as well as in boiler rooms with a gas stove. The gas detector should be placed at a height of approx. 2 m and no more than 6 m from the gas source.

The carbon monoxide sensors, in turn, should be located in those rooms where water heaters with an open combustion chamber, a tiled stove or a boiler room with a furnace for coal or wood are used. Carbon monoxide detectors are also recommended where portable heating devices are used, such as oil stoves or gas heaters. It is worth remembering that the biggest threat is in rooms with poor ventilation - not ventilated, with blocked ventilation ducts or chimneys and with too tight windows. The carbon monoxide detectors are mounted at a height of 140-150 cm.

Fire detectors
This group includes many devices that can detect a threat. Among them, you can distinguish:

- thermal sensors - they initiate an alarm when the temperature in the room exceeds the set threshold or a sudden jump occurs,
- optical sensors - their task is to detect smoke in the room, the optical systems installed in them react to the scattering of the light beam through the smoke; they should be located at the ceiling, in accordance with the national guidelines register
- ionization sensors - they alert the presence of smoke which disturbs the flow of ions between the two electrodes;
- multi-sensor - these types of sensors use several technologies, most often they are optical and thermal devices.

The detectors available on the market are usually powered by batteries or by central fire alarms, equipped with rechargeable batteries or buffer power supplies. The best solution is to choose the sensors connected to the network, which are emergency power from the battery - so they will work even in the event of a fault or cut off the power source. In the case of many alarm devices, it may be necessary to connect them to the fire alarm control panel - these solutions are used in public buildings. It is also necessary to verify the devices in terms of their quality - only Awex detectors and other reputable manufacturers have certificates confirming their safety and reliability.
