The tallest building in Poland, has 42 floors. On the 30th floor, at a height of 114 m, there is an observation deck.

Skyscraper was erected as a gift of the Soviet nation for Poland. The originator of the project was Józef Stalin.
Architect LW Rudniew wanted the office building to be in the Polish style, so he visited well-known cities, for example: Krakow, Chełm, Zamość, in order to collect the necessary information and get acquainted with Polish architecture.
Rudniew and his team created five projects, the Poles chose a 120-meter building, but their ambitions were much larger, which allowed them to build a much larger building.
About 3,500 Russian workers took part in the construction, who lived in a specially built housing estate with a cinema, canteen, lounge and swimming pool.
During the construction, 16 Russians were killed in accidents at work. In 1956, a series of suicidal jumps from the terrace on the 30th floor began, first the Frenchman jumped, seven Poles jumped after him. After these incidents it was decided to set up bars.
On the New Year's Eve at the top of the Palace of Culture, the largest clock in Europe was unveiled, its four dials have diameters of 6 meters each. It is also the highest clock tower in Europe
