From 2600 onwards until 2480 BC
- Other building names: Piramida Cheopsa, Piramida Chufu
- Building types: Monument, Tomb, Pyramid
- Architectural styles: Ancient Egyptian
- Material: Stone, limestone
-
Height: 137 meters
- Length: 230 meters
- Area: 52900 m²
The large pyramid is currently 137 m high (it was originally 9 m higher). The sides of the base are 230 meters long and the angle of inclination is 51 "52 '.
This pyramid was built of over 2.3 million stone blocks, each weighing approximately 2,300 kg, and the largest blocks weighing over 15 tonnes, and granite slabs over the royal chamber even 50 tons. If from this material build a wall with a height of 3m and a thickness of 25cm, it would surround all of Poland.
The pyramid was built with unbelievable perfection. It stands on artificially leveled ground, and its base is surprisingly close to the ideal square. The sides of the pyramid are on the four sides of the world indicated by the compass.
In the Cheops pyramid the ratio of the sum of the two sides of the base to the height is 3,1416, i.e. the approximation of pi with the accuracy of four decimal places.
The pyramids were built as tombs for the rulers of Egypt called pharaohs. The Egyptians believed in life after death, so they put in the tomb of the pharaohs valuable items that could be useful to them in their extraterrestrial life.
Next to the Pyramid of Cheops, there are also two equally well-known pyramids: the 133.5-meter pyramid of Chefren and the 65-meter pyramid Mykerinos.
A steep corridor with an entrance located at a height of 11 m leads to an old, unfinished burial chamber. The second corridor - levels leads to the so-called Queen's Chamber. The third one is connected with the 8.5-meter high and 47-meter-long Great Gallery leading to the actual burial chamber with a sarcophagus.
Leveling the ground under the pyramid on the surface of 52 900 m² does not exceed 1 cm
The ratio of the length and volume of the pyramid corresponds to the ratio of the radius of the circle to its surface.
The diameter of our planet at the equator is 12756326 m. Earth day lasts 86400 seconds. Dividing the meters by the second, we get the height of the pyramid, or 147.64 m.
The pyramid once stood perfectly on the north-south axis. Unfortunately, due to the continental drift, there was a deviation, 2'28 "from the north to the north-west and 1'57" from the south to the south-west.
Multiplying the pyramid height by 1,000,000,000 gives the average distance between the Earth and the Sun.
Originally, the structure was 146,59 m high, however, the modern measurement result including the loss of pyramidion and erosion indicate a height of 138.75 m.
From the end of February to mid-October, the pyramid does not cast any shadow on the south.
