Burj Khalifa

Facts, informations and history of Burj Khalifa

Even before the end of construction, Burj Dubai was named the second tallest building in the world. He surpassed such constructions as Petronas Towers (452 meters), Willis Tower (442 meters) and 509 meters Taipei 101 .

Burj Dubai at the moment of completion will become the tallest construction ever built by man (the previous record belonged to Radio mast in Konstantynów ), the same will be the records of heights in four main categories recognized by" The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat "(CTBUH ), which collates and categorizes the highest buildings. The main categories recognized by CTBUH are: the height to the top of the spire, the highest inhabited floor, the top of the roof and the highest top of the building.

The height of the tower is not yet known, but probably when it is completed, it will be 808 meters (2,651 ft) and will have 162 floors. However, the height of 808 meters has recently become the topic of discussion and designers announce that if necessary (the possibility of breaking their height record by another skyscraper), the height can be increased even to over 1000 meters.

At the time the Burj Dubai design was announced in 2003, it was the same as the 560m Grollo Tower design in Melbourne. In May 2003, the design was changed to the one made by Skidmore Owings and Merrill.

The shape of the building refers to the desert flower. The three arms coming out of the central core, as the height increases, gradually decrease. The top of the building is crowned with a spire.

The lowest 37 floors will be occupied by Armani Hotel, decorated by Giorgio Armani. Floors 45 to 108 can accommodate 700 apartments. The remaining floors will be occupied by offices.

On the 78th floor there will be a swimming pool, the lobby will be located on the 123 floor, and on the upper floor will be an observation deck.

The planned opening date is October 30, 2008.

In the tower there will be installed 66 fastest elevators in the world moving at speeds up to 65 km / h. Engineers planned to build the world's first three-deck elevators, but ultimately they will be double-deck elevators, holding up to 21 people each.

The foundations of the building are made of concrete and 192 steel rods driven into the ground to a depth of 55 meters. In total, over 45,000 cubic meters of concrete, whose weight exceeded 110,000 tons.

Burj Dubai will be the focal point of a huge complex with 30,000 apartments, 9 hotels, 19 high-rise buildings, shopping centers, 6 acres of parks and 12 hectares of lake.

The energy the building will take (36 MVA) is equivalent to the energy of 360,000 simultaneously glowing 100 watt bulbs.

A special cooling system will consume about 10,000 tonnes of cooling water per day.
