Centennial Covered Bridge was built in 1987, the hundredth year since the founding of the city.
The bridge is a three-eighths scale (37.5%) replica of the Chambers Covered Bridge, a railroad bridge no longer in service located about a half mile upstream. It is ten feet wide and fourteen feet high (3 m by 4 m) and carries only bicycle and foot traffic.
